Sunshine thoughts on a better world, to win over hate with love

The morning sun’s rays find their way through the thick curtains of my bedroom window & I wake up right away. I have always been a light sleeper - the slightest disturbance, and sleep deserts me.

Just like my mind which at the slightest provocation leads to a cascade of thoughts that engulfs my whole being.

I check the time on my phone and habitually my messages and FB feed as well. As I scroll through the horrible stuff (rapes, honour killings, shootings and suicides) we call news today, the spark in my mind had already begun.

I close my eyes shut and feel myself being sucked into my messy thoughts, the primary one being – “Where & when did we begin to fail as humans?”

Was it when we were taught never to give up on our goals/ideologies/dreams/desires at all costs?

Making life’s choices

“It is your choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities” - Anyone familiar with the Harry Potter saga would definitely be aware of this advice given by Dumbledore to Harry.

The above quote had been close to my heart ever since I first read it. Not only for Harry in the wizarding world, it holds a deeper meaning that can be attributed to our everyday ordinary human lives as well.

In our society, we are made to believe that we have only few major life choices to make in the course of our lifetime.

But if I sit back and reflect, I realize one makes innumerable amount of choices every waking moment of our lives. We may not realize the magnitude or the consequences of our choices – but indeed they drive how the world functions.
